1. Are these toys just for kids who celebrate Eid?
The toys will be given to or available to ALL children at the hospitals, not just those who celebrate Eid! Some of the hospitals will do Eid day distributions and pass out a toy to every patient in the hospital on Eid. Other hospitals will keep the toys in their playrooms or give them out as needed over time.
2. How will the hospitals know the toys are from Khairgiver?
The mailing address for each hospital, which you will be able to pick at checkout (usually shows up under your default address), is kept confidential for privacy purposes, but Khairgiver is noted in each mailing address so the hospitals will be able to tell.
3. There is also a gift list for Heal Palestine. Where exactly are these items going?
Heal Palestine has been working tirelessly to transfer injured and sick children from Palestine abroad for care that they cannot get locally because of Gaza’s collapsed medical system. The toys from that gift list will be given to the Heal Palestine children & siblings who are currently in America receiving treatment.
4. There is also a gift list for the Islamic Center of San Diego. Where exactly are these items going?
The mission behind Khairgiver's Eid Toy Drive for pediatric patients is to provide a little bit of joy and escape from the trauma and pain that they experience. It is with that same mission in mind that we have added on a very special wishlist for the school children of the Islamic Center of San Diego where gunmen opened opened fire earlier this week on May 18. School has been cancelled indefinitely for them, and the coming Eid will be a very different one. An alternative plan for the children is in the works, and a toy distribution with these toys is now part of that plan.
5. Is it ok if the toys get there after Eid?
Yes - we obviously would love for as many toys to be sent prior to Eid so the sooner you can donate the better! But if they arrive after Eid, it’s perfectly ok!
6. Can I donate to more than one hospital?
Yes! The more the merrier - there will be a count on the website of toys bought for each hospital that will be updated regularly. Most of the toys cost between $10-$40. If you can't decide which hospital to donate to, pick the ones with the least purchases.
7. Can we donate in a way other than purchasing off of the Amazon Wishlists?
Yes, there is a Donate button on our Donate page where you can make a tax deductible donation directly to Khairgiver - we can then use that money to purchase toys for you.
8. Can we donate toys we have at home?
No. The hospitals have strict infection control policies that only allow for brand new toys to be donated. If you have brand new toys, we can try to let you know how to donate them after the Eid Toy Drive is over.
